Over the next few weeks, our students in Grades 1-8 will be taking part in Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) testing.
From September 21 to October 9, students will complete MAP assessments designed to help teachers understand each child’s current instructional level, set meaningful learning goals, and measure academic growth throughout the school year.
One of the helpful features of MAP testing is that the assessments adapt to each student’s level of learning. This means that questions adjust as students work, giving each child an opportunity to demonstrate what they know and can do.
Across the testing window, students will spend approximately 120-200 minutes completing their assessments. Teachers use this information alongside their own classroom observations and assessments to help support each student’s learning throughout the year.
We would love our GCCS community to be praying for our students as they begin their fall MAP testing. Pray that they would feel calm and confident, do their best, and remember that a test is simply one tool that helps us understand how we can best support their learning.
If you would like to view your child’s MAP results, please speak with their teacher. Results will be available at the end of October, once the testing window has closed.
We’re thankful for the opportunity to begin another year of learning, growing and discovering how God has uniquely gifted each of our students.
