What a beautiful morning to walk together as a school community!
Under bright September sunshine, our GCCS students took part in our Terry Fox Walk around the school grounds, coming together to remember Terry’s incredible legacy and his determination to make a difference.
One of the loveliest parts of the morning was seeing our students walking alongside their reading buddies. Younger and older students walked hand in hand; the sound of their laughter and conversation filled the air, and there was such a wonderful sense of energy and togetherness as our students spread across the school grounds.
And when the walk was finished, the fun certainly didn’t stop!
The students headed straight into recess, where the school grounds quickly came alive with play. Imaginative games began to unfold, basketball and soccer matches appeared almost instantly, and groups gathered for four square, Gaga Ball and games on the play structure. Everywhere you looked, there were children running, playing, talking and enjoying being together.
Our Kindergarten students were busy making the most of their own playground too, with plenty of digger digging, mud-house baking, exploring, running and all the wonderful imaginative play that comes so naturally to our youngest students.
It was one of those mornings that captured so much of what we love about being a school community — students of all ages learning from one another, caring for one another, and simply enjoying time together.
A morning of walking, remembering, playing and belonging. What a wonderful way to start the day!
