ABOUT THE WALK-A-THON EVENT
On Friday October 6th our whole school did a Walk-a-thon. The Walk-a-thon is an event we do every year to raise money for school activities and field trips. This year our school goal was to raise $40,000. We really wanted to reach our goal! Every student asked family and neighbours to sponsor them with money. We all walked from school and went on trails, on a river side and near a park. Grades 4 – 6 walked 4.4km, Grade 7-8 walked 6 km, Grade 1-3 walked 3.8km and JK/SK walked 3 km. After we all walked, everyone got chips and juice! Everyone really enjoyed the Walk-a-thon!

OUR GOALS FOR FUNDRAISING
This year we raised our school goal! Our school goal was $40,000 so that meant each student had to raise $200 each. As a result, Mr DeMoor had to pick a challenge from a hat that we had all filled with ideas made by all the students. He picked out ‘become a student for a day’. That meant he had to go to each classroom in the school (from Kindergarten to Grade 8) throughout a whole day and do a test or something like that. Then he would pass that grade. At the end of the day he had passed all the grades.
Each grade set goals to raise money for the Walk-a-thon, and each time we reached our next goal we would get a class reward. For our class (Grade 4), if we raised $50 each we would get 40 minutes of free time. If we raised $100 each we would get candy gum day. If we raised $150each we got to be a preschooler for a day. If we raised $200 each we would get a PJ/Stuffy/movie/ice cream sundae day. If we raised $250 each we would get…. a YES DAY!
We interviewed lots of students and they all said they loved their class goals!
