On Friday, October 16th, our Grade 7 students led us in a creative and thought-provoking chapel focused on the Breastplate of Righteousness, part of our school-wide exploration of the Armour of God.
Beginning with Ephesians 6:14, students explored what it means to guard our hearts and protect our Christian walk. Just as a breastplate protects a soldier’s vital organs, the righteousness God calls us to live out helps us stand firm in our faith, make wise choices and recognise influences that may lead us away from Him.
Through five original skits, written entirely by the students themselves, our Grade 7s brought these lessons to life with a wonderful balance of humour and meaningful reflection. From the entertaining antics of the Heart Sergeants to imaginative characters and unexpected twists, their creativity kept everyone engaged while sharing an important message.
Each skit explored a different challenge we may face in our daily lives. Students demonstrated the importance of standing up for ourselves, avoiding unnecessary conflict, responding to bullying, resisting temptation, learning from our mistakes and being thoughtful about what we allow into our hearts and minds. They also highlighted the pressures of social media and the impact of gossip, reminding us that not every voice deserves our attention or influence over our lives.
Throughout the presentation, one message rang clear: “I’m not scared. I’m prepared!” Being prepared doesn’t mean being perfect or never facing difficulties. It means knowing God’s Word, seeking His wisdom and choosing to do what is right, even when we face pressure or temptation.
As Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, we are to guard our hearts, because what shapes our hearts influences how we live. The Breastplate of Righteousness is not physical armour, but a reminder to let God’s truth guide our choices, relationships and daily actions.
We are so proud of our Grade 7 students for their thoughtful writing, teamwork and confident presentation. They reminded us that following Jesus means being intentional about what we allow to influence us and choosing, each day, to live in a way that honours Him.
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.” Ephesians 6:14 (NIV)
