Student Council

By Bentley and Sydney, Gr 8

Student Council is a great opportunity for students to get involved in their school community in a leadership role. Grades 5-8 elected two members from their class as representatives. In the first few months of school, the student council has been involved in many ways. They meet after school and at nutrition breaks to plan for many events, and are led by Mrs. Burton and Ms. Pennings, who work very hard to run student council.

The first event they planned was the annual Fall Fun Day. Five events were planned by Ms. Pennings and Mrs. Burton and the students worked to lead those events on the day. There were a variety of fun team building games for the different colour teams and it was a great afternoon! T

hey continued to plan events and the next one was a fun surprise event on the schools’ Christmas day. Each class was able to dress up one of the student council members in fun christmas accessories that were brought by the members. The student council did a fun parade on stage in their outfits. They sure brought lots of fun and Christmas spirit to the day!

One last thing that the student council is doing is collecting pop tabs for wheelchairs! They want everyone to remember to pop a tab to make a difference! As a thank you for all the hard work that our student council did, they were rewarded with a special Wendy’s lunch!

Shout out to our student council representatives:

Grade 7: Kameron, Zach
Grade 6: Kiara, Noah
Grade 5: Tomiwa, Elsa, Lincoln

And to our teacher leaders: Mrs. Burton and Ms. Pennings
