Girls Volleyball 2024

By: Lydia, Kiarah, Maiya, Elise, and Addie

The GCCS girls’ volleyball team have worked hard throughout the volleyball season, and especially leading up to the Volleyball Clinic Day held at Woodland High School and the district volleyball tournament held at Providence Christian School in Hamilton. During practices, the girls improved their serving, hitting, bumping, setting, blocking, communication, and court positioning skills.

In November the team had the opportunity to go to Woodland High School for a Volleyball clinic. Five schools, including Drayton, Cambridge, Kitchener, Listowel, and Guelph, all brought their girls’ and boys’ volleyball teams. They spent the morning with grade 11 and 12 volleyball players learning and getting pointers about our volleyball skills. In the afternoon they got to play against other schools and practice our volleyball in game play. It was a good chance to connect with the other schools and practice playing as a team.

After more weeks of practice, the team headed to Dundas for a tournament at Providence Christian School to compete against seven other schools. The whole day they worked really hard and had a lot of fun. The girls’ volleyball team did exceptionally well at this tournament and finished third. The team was very proud of how they had improved and everyone had an awesome time cheering each other on. Thanks so much to Mr. De Moor for coaching the girls. Overall they had such an amazing season and can’t wait for next year.
