Science and Math

At the core of our teaching: to nurture, educate and inspire

Students at GCCS are provided with opportunities to assess and extend their learning in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Gauss Math Contest

Each year students from GCCS take part in the Gauss Math Contest which is designed by the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing. Our Grade 7 and 8 students (and often a few Grade 6 students) are entered into this competition with students from over 60 other Christian Schools.  Many of these schools like GCCS are affiliate members of Edvance Christian Schools Association. Historically, GCCS students have scored well above the averages for the competition and some students have attained the highest score in the competition in their grade level.  The Gauss contest not only gives the opportunity to celebrate the gifts that students have in math but also to have an outside assessment from which to review the quality of our math program. All scores are out of 150.

Pledging to GCCS

Donation pledges represent the generous commitment of donors to contribute a specified amount of money to an organization over a predetermined period. These pledges can take the form of conditional donations, where payment is contingent upon the fulfillment of certain conditions, or unconditional donations, which are given without any specific requirements or stipulations.
