In our Primary Grades, students embark on a journey of learning, discovery, and personal growth. These early years provide the foundation for a lifetime of curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning—all in a nurturing, Christ-centred environment where children are valued for who God created them to be.
In Grades 1–3, students strengthen essential skills in reading, writing, and mathematics, building the foundation they need for future academic success. They explore science, social studies, and the arts through hands-on, engaging lessons designed to spark curiosity and creativity. Inquiry-based learning encourages students to ask questions, think critically, and discover answers through exploration. Teachers use differentiated instruction to meet each child’s needs, ensuring every student has the support and challenge necessary to grow.

Faith is at the heart of everything we do at GCCS. In the Primary Grades, students learn about God’s love, the importance of prayer, and the practical ways they can live out Christian values in their daily lives. Through Bible stories, worship, and small-group discussions, children begin to understand what it means to follow Christ, make kind choices, and serve others. Our goal is to help students develop a personal relationship with God and see Him at work in the world around them.
Primary students are learning not only academics, but also how to navigate relationships, manage emotions, and work collaboratively with others. Through structured activities and daily interactions, children develop empathy, patience, resilience, and problem-solving skills. Teachers model and reinforce positive behaviour while guiding students to build strong friendships, communicate effectively, and contribute to a caring classroom community. These early lessons in character formation create a strong foundation for lifelong social and emotional growth
The Primary Grades are full of opportunities for students to explore their gifts, talents, and interests. Whether through art, music, drama, science experiments, or outdoor learning, children are encouraged to try new things, ask questions, and express themselves creatively. Play-based learning and project-based activities help students connect knowledge to real-world experiences, fostering both imagination and confidence. Every child’s unique abilities are celebrated, giving them the freedom to discover who they are and how they can shine.
