Junior Grades Program: Overview

The Junior Grades at GCCS are a season of meaningful growth. Students in Grades 4–6 are learning to think more deeply, take greater ownership of their learning, and understand their place within a community. In classrooms shaped by grace and belonging, students are encouraged to grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally—learning not just what to think, but how to live faithfully and responsibly in God’s world.

Deepening Academic Learning

In Grades 4–6, students build on foundational skills while being challenged to think critically and creatively. Literacy instruction emphasizes deeper reading comprehension, thoughtful writing, and clear communication. Mathematics focuses on reasoning, problem-solving, and applying concepts in real-world contexts. Through inquiry-based learning in science, social studies, and the arts, students explore God’s creation with curiosity and care, learning to ask meaningful questions and engage thoughtfully with complex ideas.

Faith Woven Into Everyday Learning

At GCCS, faith continues to be integrated into every subject and experience. Junior students grow in their understanding of Scripture and are encouraged to reflect on how faith shapes their identity, choices, and relationships. Through chapel, prayer, Bible study, and classroom conversations, students learn what it means to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. Faith is lived out daily as students practice kindness, service, and compassion within their classrooms and beyond.

Growing as Leaders and Serving Others

The Junior Grades offer students intentional opportunities to step into leadership and service. Students learn that leadership is rooted in humility, responsibility, and care for others. Through classroom roles, collaborative projects, service initiatives, and school-wide opportunities, students discover their gifts and learn how they can contribute to the flourishing of their community. These experiences help students grow in confidence while learning to serve others with integrity and empathy.

Belonging, Community, and Character Formation

As students navigate friendships and growing independence, classrooms remain places of belonging and grace. Teachers intentionally support social and emotional learning, guiding students to communicate respectfully, resolve conflict thoughtfully, and care for one another well. Students learn to recognize their own strengths, understand their emotions, and develop resilience—all within a community that values mutual respect and shared responsibility.

Creativity, Exploration, and Engagement

Learning in the Junior Grades is active and engaging. Students continue to explore creativity through art, music, drama, and hands-on learning experiences. Curiosity is celebrated as students investigate, design, create, and reflect. Opportunities for outdoor learning, experiential projects, and real-world connections help students see learning as meaningful, relevant, and connected to God’s world.

Preparing for What Comes Next

The Junior Grades prepare students for the transition into upper elementary and beyond. Students leave Grades 4–6 academically equipped, spiritually grounded, and socially confident. More importantly, they are growing as thoughtful learners, caring community members, and faithful followers of Christ—ready to continue their journey of learning and service with confidence and purpose.

Pledging to GCCS

Donation pledges represent the generous commitment of donors to contribute a specified amount of money to an organization over a predetermined period. These pledges can take the form of conditional donations, where payment is contingent upon the fulfillment of certain conditions, or unconditional donations, which are given without any specific requirements or stipulations.
