What a Glorious Night: A Celebration of Christ’s Birth
On December 18th, our school community gathered to celebrate the wonder of Christmas at our annual concert, this year entitled What a Glorious Night. This year’s event beautifully reflected the joyful anticipation of Christ’s birth, echoing the message of hope, love, and peace that is central to the season.
From the first note to the final bow, the evening was filled with worship, creativity, and a sense of unity that truly made it a glorious night.
Highlights of the Evening
The concert opened with a captivating performance by the Grade 8 Band, playing Harvest Song. Their stirring music set a reflective and joyous tone, reminding us of God’s abundant blessings. The Grade 7 Band followed with a lively and imaginative rendition of Creatures in the Attic, bringing smiles to the audience and sparking the festive spirit.
The Grade 2 class amazed everyone with their heartfelt recitation of Luke 2, sharing the story of Jesus’ birth with clarity and reverence. They followed this later with a jubilant performance of Joy to the World, filling the room with celebration and praise.
Our youngest students, from Kinder C and Kinder P, delighted the crowd with their endearing reading of Five Shepherds. Their sweet voices then joined together for the first verse of Away in a Manger, capturing the wonder and simplicity of that first Christmas night.
The Grade 6 class brought energy and rhythm to the stage, skillfully playing and singing Go, Tell It on the Mountain on their ukuleles. Their performance filled the audience with joy and excitement, embodying the good news of Jesus’ birth.
The Grade 5 students showcased their musical skills with a festive rendition of Deck the Halls on the tone chimes, while the Grade 1 class brought peace to the evening with their tender performance of Silent Night.
The concert continued with the Grade 3 class performing Jingle Bells on their recorders, followed by the Grade 4/5 class echoing the cheerful melody on the tone chimes, creating a wonderful harmony across grades.
The grand finale brought everyone together as the entire school gathered on stage to sing What a Glorious Night. The sound of all the students’ voices united in worship was a moving and powerful conclusion to the evening, reminding us of the beauty of community and the joy of Christ’s birth.
