On Wednesday, November 12, our school’s girls volleyball team, which was made up of girls in Grade 7 and 8, went to Woodland Christian High School for a volleyball training clinic and tournament. We spent the first part of the morning doing drills, which were led by students at Woodland. These drills were in groups with a few girls from each of the teams, which meant that we got to know a few of the girls from opposing team. At 11am the tournament started. It was round robin games at the start, which meant that each team played every other team. We played Lystowel first and we won one set and lost one set, which meant that we tied that game! After that we took a break and got some lunch which was pizza, thanks to Woodland! We got to watch the boys play before our next game. Our next game was against Drayton, which we sadly lost. We had another game immediately after that and we ended up beating Cambridge, which was great! We got to watch the boys play and it was fun to cheer them on. We ended up coming third which meant that we did not have another game, but the boys did and so we cheered them on one more time before we took the bus back to school.
On Wednesday, November 19 our team went to Trinity Christian School for the district tournament. We tried our best and played hard but we sadly didn’t have many wins. We did win a set against Brampton, but other than that we were not very successful. In the end, we lost in the consolation semifinals. – by Emily, Grade 8
