“Teach My Song to Rise to You” – GCCS Spring Concert 2026

On  the evening of Wednesday April 29th, our GCCS community gathered together for a wonderful celebration of music, worship, creativity, and praise at our 2026 Spring Concert, “Teach My Song to Rise to You.” Families filled the gym with excitement and encouragement as students from Kindergarten through Grade 8 shared the gifts and talents God has given them.

Taken from the lyrics of our final song, “Lord, I Need You,” this year’s concert theme reflected a prayer of dedication. It reminded us that worship is not limited to a stage or a single moment, but can be woven into the rhythms of our everyday lives. Through music, movement, and performance, our students beautifully expressed the desire for God to shape their lives into continual songs of praise — where even ordinary moments become offerings of worship.

Our Grade 7 Band opened the performances with the energetic Blunderbuss Battles, followed by the Grade 8 Band performing two exciting pieces: Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Mission: Impossible. The Concert Band brought energy and rhythm to the stage with Groovee, followed by the audience joining together in singing the beloved hymn In Christ Alone.

The younger grades charmed the audience with joyful and heartfelt performances. Kinder P encouraged us to shine brightly with their song Let Your Light Shine Bright, while Kinder C reminded us of God’s faithfulness as they sang I Will Trust You, God. Grade 2 delighted families giving an entertaining recital The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Grade 4 beautifully played Make Me a Channel of Your Peace on tone chimes.

The evening also featured instrumental and creative performances that highlighted the many talents within our school community. Grade 5 brought excitement with the iconic Star Wars Main Theme played on boomwhackers (with a little Jedi battle at the end), while our Grade 6 and 7 Dance Team performed Follow, encouraging us to walk faithfully with Christ. Grade 3 joyfully played This Little Light of Mine on recorders, Grade 1 performed Rondo Alla Turca with body percussion, and Grade 6 shared the worship song Saved, written by 3 Grade 6 girls.

The most special moment of the evening came with a powerful whole-school performance of Lord, I Need You, featuring students from Kindergarten through Grade 8 singing together in unity. It was a moving reminder of our school’s shared faith and commitment to glorifying God in all we do.

Events like our Spring Concert are wonderful reminders of the beauty of Christian education. Beyond learning notes, rhythms, and choreography, our students are learning to use their gifts to serve, encourage, and glorify God. Watching students confidently step onto the stage, support one another, and joyfully share their talents was a true celebration of community and God’s faithfulness.

Thank you to our dedicated staff who helped make this evening possible. We are so grateful for the encouragement and enthusiasm shown toward our students throughout the night.

Above all, we thank God for the opportunity to gather together in worship and celebration. May the words of our concert theme continue to shape our hearts long after the final note was sung:

“Teach my song to rise to You.”
