Last weekend, our school had the joy of taking part in the Guelph Santa Parade, and it was a night filled with light, laughter, and the true spirit of Christmas. As the sun set and the streets of downtown Guelph filled with families, the glow of parade lights made the evening feel especially magical.
Our float featured students from Grades 4–8, dressed in nativity costumes, joyfully representing the Christmas story. A spinning disco-ball star lit the float, scattering light along the route and creating a beautiful visual reminder of the Star of Bethlehem. Parents, also dressed in nativity costumes, walked alongside the float, handing out candy and spreading cheer to the many spectators lining the streets.
The response from the crowd was overwhelming. Smiles, waves, cheers, and words of encouragement followed us along the parade route as people recognized our school and celebrated the message we were sharing. Many expressed how meaningful it was to see the true message of Christmas represented so clearly and creatively.
We were honoured to see our float featured on Downtown Guelph’s social media and the Mayor’s social channels, allowing the joy of the evening to reach even further into the community.
A heartfelt thank-you to the students, families, staff, and volunteers who helped design, build, organize, walk, and support this special event. Your time, creativity, and willingness to serve helped GCCS shine brightly in our city. It was a beautiful reminder that even in the busyness of the season, the story of Jesus continues to bring hope, joy, and light.
