Happy New Year!
No, not the beginning of a new calendar year, of course – but the beginning of a new school year – which in truth brings more change to our lives than January 1st usually does.
For the past 43 years of my life I have I followed a school schedule (the first 19 years as a student and the past 24 years as an educator) so really this is more of a new year’s celebration for me than it is at the end of the calendar year.
This new year brings many new people, new events, new schedules, it offers a fresh start and a blank slate and even comes with resolutions. And Labour Day always feels a little like New Year’s Eve to me as I eagerly anticipate the beginning of this new year- prepared to experience its joys but also to face the challenges that it will bring. That said, unlike on New Year’s Eve I won’t be staying up past midnight!
I hope that this last long weekend of the summer is a blessed one for you and your family as you prepare to begin the new year. Speaking of which, please remember that you are invited to join us for our opening chapel at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday as together we begin this new year together!
Blessings,
