This week, our school community gathered for a beautiful Thanksgiving Chapel, taking time to pause, reflect, and celebrate God’s goodness and the many blessings in our lives. From the youngest Kinders to our senior students, everyone came together to focus on gratitude, community, and the ways God works in and through our school family.
One of the highlights of the morning was celebrating our Walkathon success. Not only did our students demonstrate determination and teamwork during the Walk-a-thon, but we also exceeded our fundraising goal! This achievement was a wonderful reminder of the generosity, effort, and care that define our GCCS community—and a reason to celebrate God’s blessings in action.
Another meaningful part of our chapel was a hands-on activity that let students express their gratitude in a tangible way. Each student wrote something they were thankful for on a paper link, and these links were carefully joined together to create a long, colourful thankfulness chain. The chain is now proudly displayed in the school foyer, a vibrant visual reminder of the many ways our students, staff, and families see God’s goodness in their lives every day. Walking by it is a joy and a blessing, showing just how rich our community is in thankfulness.
The chapel continued with a moment of reflection and inspiration through music. We watched Brandon Lake’s performance of “Gratitude”, a beautiful song that reminded us to lift our hearts in thanks. Then, as a school, we sang the song together. The energy and joy in the room were palpable—students and staff alike felt the power of praise and the importance of pausing to recognize God’s faithfulness.
Our Thanksgiving Chapel was more than just a gathering—it was a celebration of faith, community, and the blessings that surround us every day. It was a time to connect with one another, reflect on what truly matters, and experience the joy that comes from gratitude. From the colourful thankfulness chain to the shared songs of praise, the morning was a vivid reminder of how God’s goodness shines through each member of our school community.
We are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate together and look forward to carrying the spirit of thankfulness into our classrooms, playgrounds, and homes throughout the season.
