Our school family proudly came together for our annual Terry Fox Walk, joining communities across Canada in honouring Terry Fox and his remarkable legacy of courage, determination, and hope. It was a beautiful day of sunshine, movement, and meaningful connection as students, staff, and volunteers gathered with a shared purpose—to stand together in the fight against cancer.
One of the most special aspects of the day was seeing our students paired with their reading buddies, as younger and older students walked side by side throughout the route. These partnerships turned the walk into a powerful picture of community in action. Older students encouraged and looked out for their younger buddies, while the younger students brought enthusiasm and joy to every step. Laughter, conversation, and steady determination filled the path as they walked together, reminding us that no one walks this journey alone.
Earlier in the day, during chapel, students were reminded of Terry Fox’s unwavering perseverance and faithfulness to his calling, even when the road ahead felt long and difficult. We reflected on the idea that when a journey feels hard, we are called to press on—leaning on one another for strength and encouragement. This message carried through the walk as students supported each other, embodying the spirit of resilience that Terry modeled so powerfully.
At the conclusion of our walk, the entire school gathered for a meaningful and visual act of unity. Students tied red ribbons along the Kindergarten fence, creating a striking display that symbolized our shared commitment to hope, healing, and standing together against cancer. Each ribbon served as a reminder of those affected by cancer and of the collective impact we can have when we come together with compassion and purpose.
The Terry Fox Walk was more than just a physical activity—it was a lived expression of our school values: community, perseverance, and care for others. We are deeply proud of our students for the heart they showed, our staff for their leadership and support, and our families for walking alongside us in spirit and prayer. Together, we continue to be inspired by Terry Fox’s legacy, believing that when we walk together, we truly can help finish what Terry started.
