This year our school is doing something called ‘Praise Teams’. It was only supposed to be one praise team, but when Mrs. Wood (who is mentoring the team) saw how many people signed up, she decided to make two teams; the Eagles, and the Lions. There is also there was a Dance team. The two music teams rotate when they are leading in chapel – one month it is the Eagles practising weekly and leading chapel, and the next month it is the Lions Praise Team. We practice in the music room every week in the month our team is on. Each team has students playing ukuleles, tone chimes, drums, piano and singing. We work with Mrs Wood to decide which songs we will work on during our month.
The Dance team are the same team who perform with both praise teams. They spend their practice time choreographing new dances to go with each piece of music we play. Sometimes they use ribbons or fabric strips as part of their routine. They are very expressive dances that reflect the students response to the worship music.
It’s really fun to play instruments in front of the whole school for chapel. If you love music it is such a great opportunity to work as a team and gain more experience. We hope it continues into future years. We will sign up every year!
